The Helping Hands Stroke Club | Every Friday, 1 – 2 PM

VisitAble helps educate potential employers, institutions, and organizations on interacting with and treating people with disabilities as valued equals. As part of their research, they do surveys of individuals with different abilities. IEP University, presented by PEATC in collaboration with the Virginia Department of Education
May 6 – May 26
The IEP process can be difficult and stressful. Everyone comes to the IEP table with thoughts about their responsibilities, perspectives, and individual concerns. PEATC, in collaboration with VDOE, has developed IEP University (IEPU) to help provide families and professionals with accurate and useful information about IEP development and meetings.
IEPU is a FREE self-paced online training course that provides easy-to-understand guidance on the special education process, the IEP document, and ways to develop collaborative relationships among schools and families. It will target practical strategies for making future IEP meetings more positive, productive, and collaborative for everyone involved.
The online training will take approximately six hours and can be accessed anytime from May 6 to May 26.

Daily money management can feel overwhelming, especially if you’re unexpectedly called to assist a friend or loved one. You may feel helpless and uninformed. Join Kay Bransford, a professional money manager, to prepare for the financial aspects of caregiving. Participants will receive a free guide to walk through the process of organizing information in one hour so you can jump in and help pay bills and serve as an effective POA.

Love Your Brain Yoga

A FREE 6-week yoga program designed to build community and resilience! Classes are intentionally adapted for TBI: gentle yoga to improve balance and strength, meditation to enhance relaxation, positivity, and concentration, group discussion to connect with others with shared experiences, and participants can participate from a chair, wheelchair, or mat.

Lollipop Workshop: Resources and Tools for Triggers and Stress Reduction for Everyday Life Situations

The Fairfax Area Disability Services Board established an internship program for college students and recent college graduates with disabilities. The internship program provides participants with on-the-job experience, professional development, and training opportunities.
