Support groups can provide a sense of community and identity for survivors and caregivers.
In addition to the programs provided by Brain Injury Services for our clients and caregivers, below are groups and programs available in the community. The programs below are not hosted by Brain Injury Services. Please verify the information and/or RSVP by calling or emailing with the provided information.
June 8 – 16 9 – 11 AM or 12 – 2 PM ActivOT Summer Program: Craftsman Camp Leesburg, VA | Adult campers will work with Occupational Therapy students to complete projects/participate in activities related to this year’s theme, “Craftsman”. Together they will work with wood, primarily, to support engagement in activities that will address cognitive skills, upper extremity range of motion/strength/function, sitting and standing balance, activity tolerance, and other skills they may share with us that are important. The students will request that campers participate in an interview on the first day to help identify projects they find most interesting, and which skills or areas of function they would like to focus on. Every Friday 10 AM – 12 PM Living With Brain Injury Support Group | The Living with Brain Injury group is a unique and supportive community of individuals recovering from BI. Every Friday 1 – 2 PM The Helping Hands Stroke Club | Meeting topics vary and are comprised of open discussions, guest speakers, fitness demonstrations, cooking classes, potlucks, health expos, game days, and creative therapies such as art and music therapy. Young Adult Knights | If you are between the ages of 18-and 30 and want to make connections and friends in a relaxed fun atmosphere then please join us.
