Your Brain On Ink: Journaling with the brain in mind-Springfield
Years of research have demonstrated that journaling is a powerful tool that can help us heal, reduce stress, work through problems and enhance our well-being. The neuroscience world says we can, “name it to tame it.”
Join Deborah Ross, LPC, Certified Journal Therapist and co-author of, “Your Brain on Ink,” for a 6-week journaling workshop.
Participants will learn about the myths of journaling – you don’t have to write every day, there are many journaling techniques beyond just sitting down to write, and some techniques can be completed in 5-10 minutes. You will learn at least 6 writing techniques plus the all important, “Reflection Write,” that helps you be more effective in guiding your writing. And there will be “neuro nuggets” along the way – how does knowing that your brain is like, “Velcro for the negative experiences and Teflon for the positive experiences ” help you be more effective in creating a journal that serves your goals. Journals are affordable, available and accessible 24/7 and those who write can say they are practicing self-directed neuroplasticity – changing their brain with their pen.
