As encouraged as we are by the accomplishments we have made as an organization, they pale in comparison to the tremendous personal achievements we see our clients make, day in and day out. To play a part in their recovery process is to help solidify the bonds between client and caregiver, neighbor and neighbor, and between communities.
Since our program began in 1989 legislators, foundations, private corporations and individuals have stepped up to support Brain Injury Services. They have invested in the ability of Brain Injury Services to help this growing number of individuals with brain injuries become productive members of our community.
The success of Brain Injury Services is based upon its partnerships with the existing expertise in the community. Just as there are natural partners for the programmatic initiatives, there are natural partners to come forward with financial and in-kind support. Corporations such as Access National Bank, Argon ST, 1st Portfolio and Barbara S. Williams, Esq. have made substantial investments in Brain Injury Services by participating in our corporate partnership program. These organizations share our mission of assisting individuals with brain injuries to obtain their maximum level of independence and become productive members of the community.
Every day we continue to hear about amazing technology that is saving more and more lives. The number of individuals with brain injuries will increase as well. It is up to the community to step forward and support efforts to bring those with brain injuries back to productive, meaningful lives. Brain Injury Services is just such an effort and continued support will help the programs grow and develop to benefit the entire community.
If you or your organization would like to contribute to our programs and capabilities, we have a range of needs for which we welcome your assistance.

Each year, an estimated 1.7 million people sustain a TBI annually. Of them:
- 52,000 die,
- 275,000 are hospitalized, and
- 1.365 million, nearly 80%, are treated and released from an emergency department.
TBI is a contributing factor to a third (30.5%) of all injury-related deaths in the United States.
About 75% of TBIs that occur each year are concussions or other forms of mild TBI.
